Tapes’n’Tales: Emiliano Ponzi
“It’s possible, in a poem or short story, to write about commonplace things and objects using commonplace but precise language to endow those things – a chair, a window curtain, a fork, a stone, a woman’s earring – with immense, even startling power […]”(Raymond Carver, A Storyteller’s Shoptalk, 1981). An artistic oeuvre that can be interpreted as the expression of a stylistic research that aims to explore the complex and stratified field of everyday life through the use of an ordinary language that is essentially plain and devoid of any visual-narrative frills. Graham Nash: Life on the Road
Showing through May 26th at Proud Camden, Life on the Road is a stunning photographic collection of personal and intimate portraits taken by internationally renowned English singer-songwriter and political activist Graham Nash, founding member of the Hollies and Crosby, Stills & Nash. This photographic series, spanning from 1969 to 2003, showcases a unique selection of street photographs and portraits of family and friends featuring Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, David Crosby and other legendary musicians of the 1970s. Only The Good Survive: A Mixtape
Here we are again with a new mixtape. We are still kind of trapped in this winter that looks like it never wants to leave, and perhaps this month’s selection has got its inspiration during these days of chilly winds and frequent blizzards. Not that we believe that music is related somehow to seasons but let’s say this could be the perfect soundtrack for this winter’s tail. There are some of our all time favorite artists in here (Kraftwerk, Sonic Boom, Coil) alongside a couple of inclusions that are closer to avant-garde and pure experimentation than to alternative music (Bruce Haack, Daphne Oram). TRUE AS FILMS: An Interview with Cosimo Terlizzi
Photographer, visual artist, filmmaker and sculptor, Cosimo Terlizzi is an eclectic and versatile artist who, despite his age, has already gained a strong artistic identity and an international success. His works have been exhibited in lots of museums and galleries in Italy and in Europe, such as the MACRO in Rome, the Gallery of Modern Art of Bologna, Galleria Civica d’Arte Contemporanea of Trento, the Merz Foundation in Turin or the National Museum of Wroclaw in Poland and his films have been screened in different film festivals, such as the International Film Festival of Rome, the Milano Film Festival the London International Documentary Festival, Prix International du Documentaire et du Reportage Méditerranéen of Marseille and France Doc in Paris. He’s represented in Italy by Traffic Gallery in Bergamo.

Exhibit Openings: Just Another Group Show + Bec Winnel
Almost two weeks ago, Melbourne based-creative management agency Just Another Agency presented the third instalment of their annual “Just Another Group Show”, a unique exhibition bringing together a significant cluster of exceptionally talented artists. ADAM GREEN: Houseface
American musician and artist Adam Green recently opened a new solo show at The Hole in New York City. Entitled Houseface, the exhibition consists of a series of paintings and sculptures and introduces a continuous loop screening of his feature-length film The Wrong Ferrari. Self-annihilating ennui, protest, the feeling of total freedom that brings us closer to the final redemption. It could be a scene from the late 60′s dramas about teenage idealism or disillusionment . A stirring yet static suspension from the glimmering surface of the world we live in. It is precisely this loose allegory about the quest for spiritual enlightenment through the aesthetics of the visionary and psychedelic experience that American artist Neil Krug employs in his playful and sophisticated photography and filmmaking.
